College Hill Architectural
Walking Tour
November 16, 2024 from 10:30AM
Join us for a walking tour of the East Side led by Marisa Brown, the Executive Director of the Providence Preservation Society. Learn more about the wonders and history of the East Side, especially the historic homes and families that have helped build “The Creative Capital” of Rhode Island.
This event is an opportunity to connect informally with fellow alumni and engage in an interesting conversation, while learning more about Providence's history and efforts of local preservationist groups. This approximately one mile walk will begin in front of the PPS office 24 Meeting Street and end with a drink and snack at Den Den Cafe Asiana.
Tickets are for sale now for $20 per person via the link below.
The Providence Preservation Society (PPS) is a non-profit organization and was established in 1956 to respond to the proposed demolition of a number of 18th- and early 19th-century houses on College Hill. Unlike many historic preservation organizations that were formed to preserve a particular building, PPS has always been an advocate for neighborhood preservation and reinvestment. From that small neighborhood group, PPS has grown into a multifaceted citywide preservation and planning organization.
