About the Providence After School Alliance:

PASA’s mission is to help close persistent opportunity gaps by expanding and improving quality after school, summer and other out of school time learning opportunities for all the youth of Providence by organizing a sustainable public-private partnership that contributes to student success and serves as a national model.

Our strategy is rooted in positive youth development practices, which are designed to engage our middle and high school youth in constructive ways. Our community-based program partners focus on realizing positive outcomes for our young people by ensuring all of their AfterZone and Hub experiences provide meaningful learning opportunities, foster positive peer-to-peer and adult-to-youth relationships, and build on our young people’s strengths.  Today, PASA serves 2000 youth in the Providence area. Over 200 part-time instructors from 80 organizations apply 3 times per year to offer programs at both the middle and high school levels.

Hillary Salmons, is the PASA founder and Executive Director. Before founding PASA, Hillary led an education initiative called Rhode Island Scholars where business leaders spoke to students about the importance of college and taking math and science courses and she served as VP for Program Development for Health & Education Leadership for Providence (HELP).  Hillary has a MA in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a BA from Harvard University.
