THe new West Side
Architectural Walking Tour

Over the last few years, the West Side has emerged as one of Providence's hippest neighborhoods. Home to some of the city's best restaurants, breweries, and cafes, it attracts many of those looking for a thriving and dynamic neighborhood. While the recent commercial efforts made the West Side more attractive to newcomers, much of this renaissance is due to the continuous efforts of various preservationist and neighborhood groups.

Join us for a walking tour of the West Side during which we will explore many facets of its rich history and learn about its past industries, migration, and economy. The tour will be lead by Brent Runyon, the Executive Director of the Providence Preservation Society, and include the Kendrick-Prentice-Tirocchi House, Cranston Street Armory and the Almy Street School.

This event will provide opportunities to connect with fellow alumni and to engage in an interesting conversation, while learning more about Providence's history and efforts of local preservationist groups. This approximately one mile walk will begin at the Bell Street Chapel and conclude at the Avery Bar.

Tickets are for sale now for $10 per person via the link below.

About the Providence Preservation Society

Formed in 1956 to respond to the proposed demolition of a number of 18th- and early 19th-century houses on College Hill, the Providence Preservation Society (PPS) has grown from that small neighborhood group to a multifaceted citywide preservation organization.

With a large membership, a professional staff, and countless volunteers, PPS is able to provide a broad range of services that fulfill its mission to improve Providence by advocating for historic preservation and the enhancement of the city's unique character through thoughtful design and planning. PPS activities, outreach, and offerings include the Festival of Historic Houses, citywide advocacy, homeowner resources, and many other events and programs
